An end-of-the-season skiing excursion can combine with an International Chili Society sanctioned chili cook-off and a non-sanctioned People’s Choice cookoff. Cranmore Mountain in North Conway just received 15 inches of new snow, and there is rumored to be a bit more before March 5, presenting a great chance to get in a few more runs before hanging up the skis until next season.

North Conway has added a couple more inducements to get people to town over that weekend. The town will be filled with chili - the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce eighth annual Cinco de Marzo Chili Cookoff hosts two separate competitions, enough to satisfy the most avid chili lover.

Official International Chili Society Sanctioned Cookoff

The first cookoff is the International Chili Society (ICS) sanctioned Chili Cookoff event. The winner of the North Conway event will qualify for competition in the 2011 ICS's World Championship Chili Cookoff next November. In order to compete, however, contestants must be members of the International Chili Society, but anyone interested can sign up online.
