The White Mountains of New Hampshire were among the first places where the sport of skiing took hold in the 1930s. Ever since then, the sport has been a vital part of life in the North Country. The full service resorts can provide all of the services for a perfect winter getaway along with incredible views of snow-topped mountains. The closest airports are Boston Logan Airport in Boston Massachusetts (about 2 hours) and Boston-Manchester Airport, Manchester New Hampshire (about an hour and a half).

Waterville Valley Resort – Waterville, New Hampshire

Founded in the 1960s, Waterville Resort was famed as the place in the east where celebrities came to play – year ‘round. This is a great mountain for families and for intermediate skiers. Some 60% of the trails are rated intermediate with 20% each for novice and experts. Mount Tecumseh has a height of 4,000 feet with a vertical of just over 2,000 feet. The 53 ski trails are served by 8 lifts. Waterville has strong learner training programs for all ages and they also have equipment rental and sales facilities. A variety of lodging options from condo rentals to high end hotels are in the village of Waterville, just below the mountain, and shuttle buses run between the mountain and the village throughout the day. In addition to dining at the base lodge, several dining options are in the village, along with shopping, including groceries. Waterville is 11 miles off I-93, exit 28, via route 49.
